CONGREGATIONAL LEADERSHIP & DEVELOPMENT
Blogs and Facebook & Twitter, Oh My! Session 2
"Social media" are new tools for mainline churches, but part of the everyday lives of many of our parishioners and most of our neighbors (of all ages). Come learn how the new social media are impacting Christianity in and out of the church, and how we can be a positive force in those changes. Come learn more about Facebook, Tweeting, and other social networks and how they can work for you and your church in an effective way, most all of them at little or no cost. The Rev. Jeff Jackson, rector of St. Nicholas in Hamilton, will use an example of how his parish is using social networking tools to build community and enhance evangelism.
The Rev. Jeff Jackson, Rector at St. Nicholas Episcopal Church, Hamilton and Chair, Commission on Communication and The Rev. Alicia Schuster Weltner, Canon for Congregational Development & Ministry in the Diocese of Atlanta

Engaging with and Responding to the Young and Under-churched Session 1
One challenge for the Episcopal Church is that our core membership is often small. Significant numbers in the congregation are very occasional. In this session, we shall look at how to introduce, explain and connect the Episcopal liturgy with life in all its complexity. Building on the insights learned from mega churches, Dr. Markham will explain how important it is to illustrate that participation in the liturgy enables us all to cope with the vicissitudes of living.
The Very Rev. Ian S. Markham, Ph.D., Dean and President of Virginia Theological Seminary and our Great Gathering guest speaker for the day

Inviting Others into Leadership Session 3
Jesus exercises the only kind of leadership that can evoke authentic community a leadership that risks failure (and even crucifixion) by making space for other people to act, writes renowned educator and author Parker Palmer. This workshop will focus on leadership that creates space for others to act. It will not center on the qualities of leaders or their usual roles in organizations, but will instead engage participants in thinking about how we invite, discern, equip, and mentor others to act and lead in our congregations. Participants will reflect on their own experiences and theology, while considering how to shift their own role from leading others to encouraging others to lead.
Ms. Anne Ditzler, Senior Program Director, Episcopal Church Foundation
Leadership for the Courageous Church Session 3
We hear a lot about the church being part of a secular culture. We hear a lot about the challenging times in which we and our churches, "live and move and have our beings." More than ever, leadership matters--in the church and in the world. This workshop will focus on how clergy and lay leaders can bring the reconciling mission of the church into focus and help lead our parishes from anxiety about what we might or might not have to courage and hope in the Jesus who tells us, "Do not be afraid."
The Very Rev. Robert Wright, Rector of St. Pauls Episcopal Church, Atlanta, The Rev. Canon Alicia Schuster Weltner, Canon for Congregational Ministry & Development, and the Rt. Rev. Keith Whitmore, Assistant Bishop of Atlanta

Public Narrative: An Overview Session 1
What am I called to do? What is my parish community called to do? What is my parish community called to do now? Build leadership in your parish through the art of Public Narrative. Learn how answering these questions will inspire your parish in a call to action. Formally introduced to the Episcopal Church at the 2009 General Convention, Public Narrative opened a conversation on our identity and future as Episcopalians. This overview is offered as a first step for congregations in our diocese to learn about this process through which individuals and congregations can determine choices, build identity and impel action.

Young Adult Ministries Session 3
Have you been looking around your parish and wondering where all the 18-35 year old parishioners are? Studies show that Christians who leave church for an extended period of time in their early twenties either come back only when they have children or don't come back at all. Young Adults are hungry for a place to belong and feel welcomed. They long for opportunities to become active members of a parish. They hope for some mentoring relationships to help them in this transitional stage in their lives. They just need the tools to create those environments. If you are interested in learning more about the needs of Young Adults and how to incorporate them into your church body then join us for this informative and collaborative workshop.
Ms. Lauren Woody, Diocesan Coordinator for Young Adult Ministries
